Breakfast of champions

What thuh?! $78 for a 13 mile ride just to meet them for breakfast? Yes indeed and I’m so glad that I did. Great relationships are worth insane Uber charges.

Real connections are everything. Zoom only goes so far in that department. A handshake and, ideally, breaking bread build the real stuff.

Priceless.

When my local buddy and super connector Gary Keyfauver introduced me to Boston based business coach Jonathan Chen, CEPA®, I jumped at the chance. Jon and I Zoomed and I totally dug where he was coming from.

Smart, curious, focused, energetic. We aligned easily.

“You should meet my friend and local network partner Tara Johnson”, he said. “I think that you two have the same way of seeing things”

Well certainly!

I told him that I was going to be in Boston for a job in about two months. He suggested that we find a way to get together.

“Oh and maybe Tara can come too!”

No doubt as she turned out to be a marketing strategy powerhouse who specializes in wealth management. Insert a bucket of breathless superlatives here. Yeah, she’s all that.

The three of us made plans. I pushed my home bound flight back so that I could take advantage of being 13 miles away - not the usual 2000 when I’m home in Denver.

They picked a cool place in beautiful historic Lexington: yes of The Battle Of Lexington And Concord fame, that is a bakery and coffee joint owned by a guy from Tunisia. The house specialty is Shakshuka, one of my favorites.

Bottom line: I would have paid $300 to meet them for breakfast. We had the most wonderful conversation about business strategy, communication, AI in a world where trust is already at a premium, possible projects where we three can make a difference … WOW.

Last week I was glad to know them. Now, I feel that I am blessed to call them part of my circle of trust. The future just keeps looking brighter and more fun with people like them in my world.

Oh and the Shakshuka was darned good too …
